Creative Software Solutions

Company Profile

Creative Software Solutions (CSS) began operations in 1997 in Springfield, Missouri. CSS is owned and operated by Gavin Walker. He completed his BS in Computer Science at Southwest Missouri State University in 1991. He has 20 years of computer programming experience.

After working for two other companies, Gavin started working for Management Software Incorporated in 1991. As this company continued to thrive and produce high quality products, it caught the eye of HBOC (20 billion dollar hospital software company). HBOC purchased MSI which upped the ante on the expectations of the programmers. Gavin thrived under the new expectations and found his company leaning on his skills as a programmer even more so in order to meet the new demands. Later, McKesson (20 billion dollar pharmacy company) merged with HBOC which drove expectations even higher. All the while, Gavin had the skills to meet the challenges and program products that these multi million dollar companies felt worthy to market and sell. The following are just some of his larger achievements during his 12 years at McKesson.

  • Health Agency Management System (HAMS) PC product- Within 1 year of being hired, fixed nearly 99% of all known bugs in the product. Within 5 years became team leader over 5 other programmers on the product. 1991 through 1997
  • Found all year 2000 (Y2K) bugs in HAMS-PC then wrote code to fix all Y2K bugs. Gavin's code was implemented by other programmers to finish the project by 1998.
  • Pathways Homecare product- Gavin took over all billing code in the Pathways Homecare product when the product was still in beta testing at only a few sites. Finished the billing code to make the program run fluidly with Medicare and Medicaid billing in all 50 states. Became team leader over three other programmers as the number of customers increased. Gavin's code was used to bill millions of dollars per day at various home health agencies and hospitals. 1997 through 2000
  • Rewrote Pathways Homecare billing code to meet the new Medicare regulations regarding HIPAA. Designed all code and lead a team of three programmers to accomplish this task a full year before the new rules were required. 2000 through 2001
  • Rewrote Pathways Homecare Telephony product to handle more than 3 simultaneous users at one time. When finished, the product would handle 20+ users at one time entering charge transactions over the telephone. He finished the standing, add-on module ready to be sold at the national level. 2002

The finished billing code that Gavin wrote in Pathways Homecare was/is used by end users employed by the following (this is just a small sample):

  • St. John's Regional Health Center (Springfield, MO)
  • St. John's Regional Health Center (Joplin, MO)
  • St. Luke's Hospital (Kansas City, MO)
  • John's Hopkins Hospital (Baltimore, MD)
  • St. Agnes Hospital (Fresno, CA)
  • Rappahannock General Hospital (Kilmarnock, VA)
  • Princeton University Medical Center (Princeton, NJ)
  • Memorial Health University Medical Center (Savannah, GA)

Gavin resigned his position at McKesson to expand Creative Software Solutions from an after hours business to full time in 2003.Today, the level of expertise that Gavin used to put into creating professional, top-quality products for these big, multi-million dollar corporations, he now puts into creating products for his own customers.
